Join a webinar about research trial results 

The Institute of Cancer Research Clinical Trials and Statistics Unit (ICR) has launched a new series of webinars to share trial results with a public audience (rather than clinical or scientific). The first takes place 25 June and focuses on TORPEdO, the first UK clinical trial in proton beam therapy. which aimed to reduce the long-term side effects and improve quality of life for patients treated with radiotherapy for throat cancer. The Mental Health Research for Innovation Centre (M-RIC) is inviting young people who are experiencing low mood or struggling with motivation to take part in a new study on an app called Oshn. Participants will receive vouchers as a thank-you.

Congratulations to Rachel Walsh, Lead Research and Clinical Trials Pharmacist, who was recently accepted onto the NIHR Health and Care Professional Internship Programme.

She said: “I’m thrilled to have been accepted onto this prestigious programme. I’m looking forward to using the protected time to develop my research skills, build confidence and gain hands-on research experience that will strengthen my career and help progress patient care.” 


Apply for Research Masters funding 

Bursary applications for the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Masters for Research Delivery Leadership (MRDL) are now open! Registered health and care professionals can apply for up to three years of funding to complete a postgraduate certificate, diploma or master’s, gaining the skills and experience needed to lead clinical research studies. Apply before the 1st July 2026.

Liverpool City Region (LCR) Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Alliance conference will explore ACEs research and includes engaging speakers, panel discussions and arts activities. New research paper – building research capacity and capability

Congratulations to Research Effectiveness Lead Dr Oladayo Bifarin on the publication of a new paper in Mental Health Practice. It explains why robust, frontline-led research is essential, explores ways to increase engagement in research and how we can make participation more inclusive. 


Are you a future research leader?  

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) opened applications for the NIHR Health and Care Professional (HCP) Internship Programme 2026/27. The 12-month programme provides predoctoral learning and development. Application deadline is 6 July 2026. 


Unplanned hospital admissions in dementia 

A study exploring the experiences of unplanned hospital admissions for people with dementia is currently recruiting participants. Individuals with dementia are invited to take part in an interview about their recent hospital admission. For more information contact Leanne Hague on leanne.hague@liverpool.ac.uk.  


Do you work on an acute mental health unit? 

If you currently work on an acute mental health unit, and have done for at least 12 months, you are invited to take part in a new study from researchers at the University of Southamption exploring the potential relationship between perceptions of physical safety and psychological safety in this setting. Fill out the 15-minute survey and you could win a £50 Love2Shop voucher.
